Caution....

I've been listening to and mixing Dub Step for years now, but I never seem to put a ton of effort into staying on top of it. Lately, it's because I'm finding a harder time finding the kind that I like. I'm not a fan of the dirty, hard, scary stuff. I'm more partial to the soulful, melodic, vocal, and traditional wobbly stuff.
It's taken me a while to gather enough of my preferred types of tracks together, so don't expect another dose soon, but I'm working on it. For now, here is a mix of my current favs!

Self Indulgence

I'm not that kind of guy that only plays the things that I like to hear, a good DJ plays to the crowd and to the listeners. This mix is an exception, this bad boy is 100% all about me. Nothing but some deep house tracks and remixes out of left field that have been burning a hole in my brain for a few months. Quite a bit off of the norm of what you'd get from me, but it's not always all about you now is it! :)

Summer Camp!!!

For a few summers in a row, I was blessed to DJ at some pretty amazing summer camps and events that were put on by my amazing family at CIY. High energy, high spirited high school students with an unparallelled faith in God. Just witnessing these events would have been satisfactory, but I got to share my passion for dance music WITH them and be involved in a way that I'll never forget. No matter what city we were at, the kids were always ready to go full speed! I played a lot of pop-type remixes and guilty pleasure songs that wouldn't necessarily play on a regular basis at a club or event, which turned out to be just as fun for me as it was for them.

After the last summer, I put together a mix of all the big jams that made the kids go bonkers as a sort of tribute to the phenomenal time I had. I haven't been back in a while, but I still remember my friends and fans and this mix represents all the gooey, poppy, high energy songs I would've been throwing down this summer. Enjoy!!

LOUD NOISES!!

I knew it was only a matter of time before we started hearing Dubstep songs all over commercials, Hip-Hop tracks, and everywhere else trendy music lives. I'm not totally bent about the situation, I just want to make it clear that all Dub Step isn't the same.

Like any genre of music, there are many branches and stems reaching out from it's origins and Dubstep is included in that. I'm not a huge fan of the scarey, grimy, angry, super-duper hardcore, punch-you-in-the-face sort of tracks that all the chain smoking, PBR drinking little hipster kids are in to. There are many artists out there producing sexy and soulful tracks, as well as songs with a little sense of humor. It's not all just bass-heavy loud noises. I've tried to capture those preferential elements in this recent mix.

Leftovers

Every time I make a new mix, I gather a bunch of all my current favorites and start listening, arranging and messing around with them. I tweak the order and practice mixing in and out of songs and figure out what flows best and what sounds good together. I always try to keep my mixes under and hour and 15 minutes or so. The problem is that I always have too many good songs, and there always ends up being some tracks that get left out for whatever reason.

I always keep those poor orphan songs in mind and try to get around to using them somehow. This mix is basically all of those tracks that didn't wind up making the cut due t0 time constraints or mix-ability in the last 2 years or so. They're all great tunes, they just didn't make the cut and as you can tell by the tracklist......there's a lot of them!

So here are the left-overs in all their better-late-than-never glory!!! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
